Physical-Layer Reliability of Drones and Their Counter-Measures: Full vs. Half Duplex

چکیده

In this article, we study the advantages and disadvantages that full-duplex (FD) radio technology brings to remote-controlled drone counter-drone systems in comparison classical half-duplex (HD) technology. We consider especially physical-layer reliability perspective has not yet been comprehensively studied. For establishing a solid analytical background, first derive original closed-form expressions evaluate demodulation detection performance of frequency-hopped frequency-shift keyed remote control signals under external or self-inflicted interference. The developed tools are verified by simulated results then used impact operation mode on operable area drones effectiveness different scenarios, linking physical layer practical safety. Analysis scenarios shows FD compared HD can improve system detect attacks from greater distance than mode. However, two-way communication between controller significantly reduces drone’s when targeted smart system.

Full-Duplex Relaying with Half-Duplex Relays

We consider “virtual” full-duplex relaying by means of half-duplex relays. In this configuration, each relay stage in a multi-hop relaying network is formed by at least two relays, used alternatively in transmit and receive modes, such that while one relay transmits its signal to the next stage, the other relay receives a signal from the previous stage. With such a pipelined scheme, the source ...

Spectrum Sensing for Half and Full-Duplex Cognitive Radio

According to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) [1–3], the typical radio channel occupancy is less than 15%. The Dynamic Spectral Access has been proposed as a solution to increase the spectrum usage, and to solve the problem of the scarcity in the frequency resources due to the increasing in the demand on the wireless technologies. The Cognitive Radio (CR) technology is presented as a...

Hybrid Scheduling in Heterogeneous Half- and Full-Duplex Wireless Networks

Full-duplex (FD) wireless is an attractive communication paradigm with high potential for improving network capacity and reducing delay in wireless networks. Despite significant progress on the physical layer development, the challenges associated with developing medium access control (MAC) protocols for heterogeneous networks composed of both legacy half-duplex (HD) and emerging FD devices hav...

Physical Layer Security Schemes for Full-Duplex Cooperative Systems: State of the Art and Beyond

Due to the broadcast nature of wireless medium, wireless communication is highly vulnerable to eavesdropping attack. Traditionally, secure wireless data transmission has relied on cryptographic techniques at the network layer which incur high computational power and complexity. As an alternative, physical layer security (PLS) is emerging as a promising paradigm to protect wireless systems by ex...

Analysis of Statistical QoS in Half Duplex and Full Duplex Dense Heterogeneous Cellular Networks

Statistical QoS provisioning as an important performance metric in analyzing next generation mobile cellular network, aka 5G, is investigated. In this context, by quantifying the performance in terms of the effective capacity, we introduce a lower bound for the system performance that facilitates an efficient analysis. Based on the proposed lower bound, which is mainly built on a per resource b...
